Johannesburg - South African petrol pump prices will fall by between R1.34 and R1.37a litre, or 18 percent, and diesel prices will drop by about 20 percent from January 7, the government said on Friday.

The wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05 percent sulphur content would drop by 167.95 cents per litre. Diesel with a 0.005 percent sulphur content would drop by 165.95 cents per litre.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would drop by 131.3 cents a litre and the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin by 175 cents a litre.
